Welcome to “L’atelier du Faiseur” !
Located inside the historical downtown of Colmar since 2007, our workshop welcomes you (almost !) every day to answer to your requests of creations or fix of string instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele...). A proximity workshop who will combine expertise, quality of production and guarantee of performance.
Who is the "faiseur" ?
Sergio Di Stefano is fixing instruments since more than 25 years.
Born in Colmar in 1970, he grew up in Alsace and decided to install his workshop there in 2007. His knowledge in electronic, his passion for music and meticulous work brang him to take a look to lute-making since 1992.
Having the opportunity to work during 6 years for a great instruments importer, he practiced on more than 30 000 instruments. He finally has been able to sharpen his skills during a trip to the "LaSiDo" (Godin, Seagull, S&P...) factories, in Quebec, at the end of the 90's.
He made a lot of repairs and some important restorations, which allows him to now create his own instruments.
Resulting a savoir-faire and a profound knowledge of this domain which allows him to answer correctly to any of your request, even the most particular one !
We are inviting you to step on our door to realize your dreamed project !
The workshop is made of a first section for sells, where are placed all the available instruments (second-hand or new), and accessories.
Then, come the main working space : the workshop, in which the repairs and others tweaks are done. Then another annexe where all the sanding and vernishing stuff is done.
Between those two rooms, a part is dedicated to the production of instruments, in a place where those can wait for the entire fabrication process to end.
